Despite campaign promises from President Obama to reform the USA Patriot Act (also known as Palpatine’s Emergency Powers), the controversial legislation continues to be renewed again and again. Sunset provision from the original bill, designed to quell the concerns of civil libertarians, have subsequently been ignored in recent renewals.
